This week, I have spent lots of time reading Nervous Conditions and revising my research paper. So far in Nervous Conditions, I have learned a lot about Tambu's character as well as her family. I have also learned tons about this culture, some of which I do not yet understand. For example, there are a lot of confusing words that I have never heard. However, I can make assumptions as to what the words mean by reading the word in context. So far I have read the first 3 chapters and I plan on reading the 4th chapter tonight. The 3rd chapter has been the most eventful by far. Nhamo, Tambu's brother who she is not very fond of, dies in this chapter. Hopefully from now on the book will proceed in chronological order because the first three chapters were definitely all over the place.
It has been difficult reading a chapter a night, and also finding time to revise my paper. I have spent more time reading than I have revising my paper. I have probably read for a total of 3 hours this week, and I have revised my paper for about an hour total. I was surprised to find that I feel like I do not need to make any big changes to my rough draft. I have mostly just been fixing grammatical errors and fixing my citations. Hopefully on Monday, I will get some details of what to fix in my paper.
